Cabot Corporation's Asia Pacific Region EVOLVE Sustainable Solutions Technology Platform Recycled Reinforcing Carbon Black Production Capacity Announcement
Boston, USA, February 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cabot Corporation (NYSE: CBT) today announced the achievement of circular reinforcing carbon production capabilities in the Asia Pacific region, powered by its EVOLVE Sustainable Solutions technology platform. Cabot’s production facilities in Cilegon, Indonesia and Tianjin, China have successfully completed validation for circular reinforcing carbon production.
These products use Tire Pyrolysis Oil (TPO) extracted from waste tires through professional pyrolysis equipment as raw material. MC Pyrolysis , a global leader in continuous pyrolysis equipment, provides critical support for the large‑scale and stable production of high‑quality TPO with its core product, the Continuous Screw Pyrolysis Plant, which is highly compatible with Cabot’s raw material requirements. The entire production process adopts the ISCC PLUS mass balance method. This milestone marks that Cabot has achieved mass production of circular reinforcing carbons in all major regions of Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and will further advance the circularity and sustainable development of the global tire industry.

Global tire manufacturers are pursuing clear sustainability commitments. Many companies aim to reach 40% sustainable material usage in tire production by 2030 and 100% by 2050. This goal has driven growing market demand for circular solutions. Technological breakthroughs across the entire industrial chain — from innovation in waste tire pyrolysis equipment to process upgrading of downstream reinforcing carbons — have become critical.
MC Pyrolysis focuses on the R&D of waste tire resource utilization equipment. Its official website product portfolio covers full‑scene industrial demands:
- The flagship Continuous Screw Pyrolysis Plant features anti‑coking design, stable continuous operation for more than 100 days, and a single unit processing capacity of 20,000 tons of waste tires per year;
- It also provides Continuous Drum Pyrolysis Plant (suitable for rubber powder and 5–10 cm tire chips), Electrical Heating Continuous Pyrolysis Plant (zero‑emission electric heating solution), and Recovered Carbon Black Refining Plant.
These systems can process all categories of waste tires from passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and engineering machinery, achieving high‑efficiency pyrolysis and high‑value product separation, ensuring a stable and high‑quality TPO supply for enterprises including Cabot.
Cabot’s circular reinforcing carbons developed from tire pyrolysis oil are core downstream products. They can directly replace traditional carbon black, helping tire manufacturers increase the proportion of sustainable materials without compromising performance.
By deploying production capabilities across regions, Cabot implements a “Local for Local” strategy, continuously improving supply chain efficiency while promoting environmental sustainability throughout the tire industry chain.

Atif Mishab, General Manager, Sustainable Solutions, Reinforcement Materials Division at Cabot, stated:
“This achievement demonstrates our strong commitment to delivering sustainable solutions across Asia Pacific and globally. The development of the tire circular economy relies on collaborative innovation upstream and downstream. Every link — from technological breakthroughs in upstream pyrolysis equipment to process upgrades in downstream carbon black products — is vital.
High‑end continuous pyrolysis equipment represented by MC Pyrolysis provides a solid foundation for circular raw material supply. Scaling up circular reinforcing carbon production not only allows us to better serve as a trusted partner to the tire industry but also drives tangible progress in sustainability.
Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on and meet evolving customer needs to help build a more sustainable future.”
In addition to the Asia Pacific facilities validated in this announcement, Cabot’s plants in Ville Platte, Louisiana, USA; Mauá, Brazil; and Valašské Meziříčí (Valmez), Czech Republic have previously achieved mass production of circular reinforcing carbons. All these products are ISCC PLUS certified and fall under the recovered product portfolio of Cabot’s EVOLVE Sustainable Solutions technology platform.
Currently, Cabot has 13 production facilities certified by ISCC PLUS across Asia, Europe, and the Americas to support its circular reinforcing carbon product line. Two additional European plants for masterbatch and compounds also hold the certification.
MC Pyrolysis’s full range of pyrolysis equipment is deeply integrated with Cabot’s production system:
- Continuous screw and drum systems operate 24/7 nonstop with a daily processing capacity of up to 50 tons;
- Oil‑gas sealing systems ensure zero leakage;
- Environmental performance meets strict EU and global standards;
- Recovered carbon black refining plants further improve product purity.
Together, they form a complete closed loop:
Waste Tires → Pyrolysis Oil / Recovered Carbon Black → Circular Reinforcing Carbon → New Tires
With mature technology and reliable performance, MC Pyrolysis equipment has been deployed in many countries worldwide. Its technological synergy with Cabot strongly supports the development of the global tire circular economy. Cabot will continue to honor its commitments and work with industrial chain partners to build a circular and sustainable global economic system.
